Former KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu is preparing to make a comeback to politics, following his abrupt leave.
According to Eyewitness News (EWN), Mchunu who is also the former African National Congress (ANC) Chairperson in the province said he is ready to return to the African National Congress and serve within the party’s structures.
“You become a member of the ANC and you stay a member of the ANC. At some point or the other, people elect you or appoint you to various rules in the organisation,” said Mchunu.
In May 2016 Mchunu was forced to resign over his defiance of the ANC leadership on governance issues.
This was after Mchunu lost his position as chairperson to Sihle Zikalala during a provincial elective conference in 2016.
Mchunu said even though his removal was evidence of factionalism within the ANC, he is ready to step in and lead the party’s structure.
He also said he want to unite the ANC KZN once again as it pains him to see the party which was untied under his leadership divided.
