Border Management Authority (BMA) Bill

Parliament has passed the Border Management Authority (BMA) Bill to secure cross-border travel, trade facilitation and national security imperatives, within the context of South Africa’s regional, African and international obligations.

The bill is expected to facilitate the legitimate flow of humans and goods in an efficient manner while mitigating against illegal activities across our borders.

It will play an important role in supporting the creation of an inclusive and growing economy at the frontline of our country’s borders by facilitating the legitimate movement of people and goods in line with our socio-economic objectives.

As a Section 75 Bill, the BMA Bill will be submitted to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for  concurrence.
