ANC Councillor arrested for taking bribes from job seekers

Limpopo, The Hawks have arrested a 35-year-old African National Congress (ANC) ward councillor for alleged corruption. ANC affiliated Polokwane municipality ward councillor is accused of taking bribes from the vulnerable job seeker.

She was arrested on Tuesday after the Hawks received a tip-off about the suspect, who was allegedly soliciting bribes from job seekers.

“A trap was set at the municipal offices and the suspect was then nabbed after she received a R2 000 bribe from an undercover member,” provincial Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said on Wednesday.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon.
