The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema has also called for the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint the former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to replace Shaun Abrahams as the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).
This follows the judgment by the Pretoria High Court on Friday that appointment of Adv Shaun Abrahams as the head of prosecution must be set aside and the deputy President must appoint the new NDPP as the President is conflicted on the matter.
The High Court in Pretoria set aside the termination of former prosecutions boss Mxolisi Nxasana and the appointment of Adv Abrahams.
The court ruled that President Zuma may not have a say in the appointment of a new NDPP as he faces the prospect of criminal prosecution himself, and is conflicted.
The ruling added that a new NDPP must be appointed in the next 60 days.
The application was brought by civil society organisations who challenged Nxasana’s R17 million pay-out, which he has now been ordered to pay back as it was invalid.
President Jacob Zuma has announced that he is going to appeal the judgement.
The ANC Women League and the Youth League have accused the Judge President Dunstan Mlambo of violating the ‘Separation of powers’ doctrine.
There can be no better candidate to restore order to such an important institution! Seconded and thirded lol
